Noord-Beveland (which means "North Beveland") is a special area in the southwestern Netherlands. It is a municipality, which is like a local government area. It used to be an island, but now it's part of a larger land area called a peninsula. This peninsula includes Walcheren, Zuid-Beveland, and Noord-Beveland.
Noord-Beveland is surrounded by water. To the north, you'll find the Oosterschelde estuary, which is where a river meets the sea. To the south, there are the Veerse Meer and Zandkreek. These used to be narrow waterways but are now connected lakes. Big dams, built as part of the Delta Works project, now link Noord-Beveland to Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland.

Ancient History of Ganuenta
Long ago, during Roman times, there was a town called Ganuenta. It was located north of where the village of Colijnsplaat is today. However, this ancient town is now covered by the waters of the Oosterschelde.
Ganuenta was a very important place for trade. People would come from far and wide to buy and sell goods there. Close by, there was a special temple. This temple was built to honor Nehalennia, an ancient goddess of the sea who was important in this region. A new version of this old temple was built in Colijnsplaat and opened in August 2005.
