Norman John Frank Rodway (born February 7, 1929 – died March 13, 2001) was an actor from both England and Ireland. He was known for his strong voice and for playing many different characters on stage, TV, and in movies.

Early Life and Education
Norman Rodway was born in a house called Elsinore in Dalkey, Dublin, Ireland. His parents, Lillian and Frank, were English. They had moved to Dublin because his father worked there.
Norman went to St Andrew's Church of Ireland National School. He also attended The High School, Dublin. Later, he studied at Trinity College Dublin. There, he became a Scholar in classics in 1948. Before becoming an actor, he worked as an accountant. He also taught Latin and Greek at Trinity College.
Acting Career
Norman Rodway started his acting career on stage. His first play was in May 1953. It was at the Cork Opera House in Ireland. He played General Mannion in a play called The Seventh Step.
In 1959, he performed in London's West End. He played The Messenger in Cock-A-Doodle Dandy. The next year, he moved to England. In 1962, he played a young James Joyce in Stephen D. This play was based on Joyce's writings.
Norman joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966. He took on many important roles. These included Bassov in Summerfolk. He also played the main characters in Butley and Richard III.
On Screen and Radio
Even though he loved the stage, Norman also worked in radio, TV, and films. He had a very clear and powerful voice. This made him perfect for many radio shows on the BBC.
On television, he played important roles. He was Cummings in Reilly, Ace of Spies. He also played Charles Brett in The Bretts. You might have seen him in other popular shows. These include Miss Marple, Rumpole of the Bailey, and Inspector Morse.
Norman worked with famous actors like Orson Welles. They were in movies such as Chimes at Midnight (1965). He also acted with Patrick McGoohan in an episode of Danger Man. Norman often played the bad guy. He even played Adolf Hitler in the movie The Empty Mirror (1999). He also played Apemantus in TV and audio versions of Shakespeare's Timon of Athens.

Norman Rodway was married four times during his life. His first wife was an actress named Pauline Delaney. His second wife was Mary Selway, who helped choose actors for movies.
He had a daughter named Bianca with his third wife, Sarah Callaby. He was also a stepfather to Tara FitzGerald. His last marriage was to Jane Rodway, starting in 1991. They were married until he passed away.
