A Look at Northport Point's History
Northport Point is found at the very end of the Leelanau Peninsula. It was created over 100 years ago. The idea was to make it a fun place for vacations. It was founded in 1899.
Many families from big cities in the Midwest and East Coast started coming here. They made Northport Point their special summer home. Most of the 100 homes here are used only in the summer. This wooded area is surrounded by the waters of Grand Traverse Bay.
Northport Point also has a nine-hole golf course. This golf course is quite famous. It has even had important visitors. Several U.S. presidents and senators have played golf here.
