Nugent is a small country area in Tasmania, Australia. It is located in the south-east part of the state. Nugent is part of two local government areas: Glamorgan–Spring Bay and Sorell.

This quiet area is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) northeast of the town of Sorell. In 2016, a count of the population showed that only 101 people lived in Nugent.

Nugent has a mild climate with warm summers. It often gets rain in early autumn. The height of the land mostly affects its weather. Luckily, droughts are very rare here.

A Look at Nugent's History

Nugent has a simple but interesting past. It officially became a recognized locality in 1960.

For many years, Nugent had its own post office. This post office first opened its doors on February 5, 1883. It served the community for a long time before closing in 1968.

Nugent's Location and Landscape

Nugent is known for its natural surroundings. A small stream called Currajong Rivulet forms a part of its northern border. This helps to define the edge of the area.

Getting Around Nugent

There are a few main roads that help people travel through Nugent. These roads connect Nugent to nearby towns and areas.

• Nugent Road (Route C331): This road comes into Nugent from the south. It then travels northeast.
• Kellevie Road (Route C335): This road enters Nugent from the southeast. It runs northwest until it meets Nugent Road in the center of the area.

After these roads meet, Kellevie Road continues to the northwest, still known as Nugent Road, until it leaves the area. Nugent Road connects Sorell to Buckland. Kellevie Road passes close to Kellevie just before it enters Nugent.
