A Look Back: Nyesville's History
Nyesville started out as a coal town. This means it was a community where many people worked in coal mines nearby. The town was officially planned out and marked on a map, which is called being platted, in 1871. A post office, where people could send and receive mail, opened in Nyesville in 1872. It served the community for many years before closing in 1902.
