Oberrohrdorf is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Baden district of Aargau canton in Switzerland. It is a lovely place with a rich history and beautiful natural surroundings.

Oberrohrdorf was first mentioned in old records in the year 1179. Back then, it was simply called Rordorf. Later, around 1303 to 1308, people started calling it ze Oberen-Rordorf. This helped tell it apart from other places.

There's also a tiny village nearby called Staretschwil. It was first mentioned even earlier, in 1124. For a long time, Oberrohrdorf was part of a larger municipality called Rohrdorf. But in 1854, Rohrdorf split into three separate towns: Niederrohrdorf, Oberrohrdorf, and Remetschwil.

Oberrohrdorf covers an area of about 4.3 square kilometers (about 1.66 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 40%, is used for farming. Another large part, also almost 40%, is covered by forests. The remaining land, about 20%, is where buildings and roads are located.

The town is situated in the Baden district. It sits on the western side of a hill range called the Heitersberg. Oberrohrdorf includes the main village and the smaller hamlet of Staretschwil.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms for Oberrohrdorf is quite special. It shows a golden royal orb, which is a ball with a cross on top, like a king's symbol. This orb has a cross on it, and above it is a silver star. On either side of the orb, there are two green bulrushes, which are tall plants often found near water. All these symbols are set against a red background.
