Kiari Kendrell Cephus (born December 14, 1991), known professionally as Offset, is an American rapper. He became famous as one-third of the Atlanta-based hip-hop group Migos. He formed the group with fellow rappers Quavo and Takeoff in 2008.
Migos released four successful albums: Yung Rich Nation (2015), Culture (2017), Culture II (2018), and Culture III (2021). The group stopped making music together in 2023.
As a solo artist, Offset released a joint album called Without Warning in 2017. He worked with producer Metro Boomin and rapper 21 Savage on this project. The album reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. It also featured the popular song "Ric Flair Drip," which reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2018, Offset was featured on Tyga's song "Taste." This song became his first top ten hit as a solo artist. It also earned a "diamond" certification, meaning it sold a lot of copies. That same year, he appeared with Travis Scott on Kodak Black's song "Zeze," which reached number two on the charts.
Offset signed with Motown and Capitol Records to release his first solo album, Father of 4 (2019). This album was also very successful, reaching the same chart position as Without Warning. It included the song "Clout" featuring Cardi B, which was nominated for a Grammy Award.
In 2023, Offset and Cardi B released another song together called "Jealousy." This song was the first single from his second solo album, Set It Off, which came out in October 2023.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Offset was born Kiari Kendrell Cephus on December 14, 1991. He grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Atlanta. When he was 10 years old, he appeared as a backup dancer. This was in the music video for Whitney Houston's song "Whatchulookinat" in 2002.
In 2008, Offset formed the hip-hop group Migos. He started the group with his relatives, Quavo and Takeoff.
Rise to Fame with Migos
Migos first became widely known after releasing their song "Versace" in 2013. In 2015, the group released their first studio album, Yung Rich Nation.
In 2017, their song "Bad and Boujee" became a huge hit and an Internet meme. Many people felt that Offset's part in the song was especially strong. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later in 2017, Migos released their second album, Culture. This album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Solo Music and Collaborations
Besides his work with Migos, Offset has also released his own music and worked with many other artists. In June 2017, he was featured on Metro Boomin's song "No Complaints" with Drake. This song reached number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100. In September, he joined Macklemore on the song "Willy Wonka."
Offset then released a joint album called Without Warning. He made this album with rapper 21 Savage and producer Metro Boomin. The album came out on October 31, 2017. It debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album included the hit song "Ric Flair Drip," which was Offset's first solo platinum song. It was also his highest-charting song as a main artist on the Billboard Hot 100 at that time.
On February 22, 2019, Offset released his first solo album, Father of 4. The album featured the song "Clout" with Cardi B. This song reached number 39 on the Hot 100 chart.
After the fourth Migos album, Culture III, came out in June 2021, Offset was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Fast & Furious 9. He was on the song "Hit Em Hard" with other artists.
Migos Disbandment
In May 2022, there were rumors that Migos might be breaking up. This happened when Offset and his wife Cardi B stopped following Quavo and Takeoff online. Quavo and Takeoff had announced a new duo project called Unc And Phew.
In August 2022, Offset announced his second solo album. He released two new songs, "54321" and "Code" with Moneybagg Yo. Around this time, Offset also filed a lawsuit against his record label, Quality Control Music. He stated that he had paid for the rights to his solo music. However, he claimed the label was trying to say his new songs belonged to them.
In October 2022, Quavo and Takeoff released a joint album called Only Built for Infinity Links. Offset was not part of this album. Quavo mentioned in an interview that he wanted to focus on his and Takeoff's career as a duo.
On November 1, 2022, Takeoff was tragically shot and died in Houston, Texas. After this sad event, Offset delayed the release of his upcoming album.
On July 28, 2023, Offset released the song "Jealousy" with Cardi B. This song was the first single from his second solo album, Set It Off, which was released on October 13, 2023. The album also included the songs "Fan" and "Worth It" featuring Don Toliver. The album featured other guest artists like Travis Scott, Future, Latto, and Young Nudy.
Other Activities
In 2016, Offset and Migos appeared in an episode of Donald Glover's TV series Atlanta. He has also been part of campaigns for fashion designers.
In February 2019, Offset appeared on Sean Evans' YouTube series Hot Ones.
In August 2019, it was announced that Offset invested in the Esports organization FaZe Clan. He said he loves gaming and believes Esports is the future. He also appeared in two FaZe Clan videos on YouTube.
Offset made his acting debut in the TV show NCIS: Los Angeles. He also helps struggling artists through an organization called Axis Replay.
Offset's grandmother passed away from bladder cancer in 2012. He has helped raise $500,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Family Life
In 2017, Offset began dating fellow rapper Cardi B. They got married privately on September 20, 2017. Cardi B became a stepmother to his three children from previous relationships. They later had a public proposal at a live performance.
On April 7, 2018, Cardi B announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their daughter was born in 2018. On December 5, 2018, Cardi B announced they had broken up. However, they later got back together.
On June 27, 2021, Offset and Cardi B announced they were expecting their second child. Their son was born later that year.
On November 1, 2022, Offset's groupmate Takeoff passed away. The Migos group officially disbanded in 2023. An interview in 2023 clarified that Offset is not biologically related to Quavo and Takeoff. However, they have considered each other "cousins" since they were children.
Offset is a father to six children with four different women. His first four children appeared on the cover art for his album Father of 4 (2019). He had a son in 2009, another son in 2015, and a daughter in 2015. He and Cardi B had a daughter in 2018 and a son in 2021. Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset on August 1, 2024. She also announced she was expecting her third child, his sixth, and gave birth to a daughter in September 2024.
