Leading as Prime Minister
As prime minister, Omar Razzaz formed a new government. Sixteen members from the old government stayed, and seven women became ministers. This was the most women ever in Jordan's government.
He faced big challenges, like balancing the country's finances and dealing with high unemployment. Many people were upset about the economy. Razzaz promised to listen more to the public. He said there was "no magic stick" to fix things quickly, but that they would work together.
One of his first actions was to remove a new income tax bill from Parliament. This bill had caused the protests that led to the previous prime minister's resignation. On July 19, 2018, Razzaz's government received enough votes from the House of Representatives to continue its work.
On October 3, 2020, Razzaz offered his resignation to King Abdullah II. The King asked him to stay on as a caretaker until a new prime minister was chosen. On October 7, 2020, King Abdullah II appointed Bisher Al-Khasawneh as the new prime minister. This ended Omar Razzaz's time as prime minister.
