Phone Features

These smartphones have many powerful features that make them work well.

Processing Power

Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro use a fast processor called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. This processor helps the phone run apps and games smoothly. They also have an Adreno 650 GPU, which is like a special chip for handling graphics.

Battery Life

The OnePlus 8 has a battery with a capacity of 4300 mAh. It supports fast charging, so you can power it up quickly.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has an even bigger battery, with a capacity of 4510 mAh. It also supports fast charging. Plus, it can charge wirelessly and even share its power with other devices wirelessly (reverse wireless charging).

Cameras for Photos and Videos

The OnePlus 8 has three cameras on the back:

  • A 48-megapixel main camera for clear wide shots.
  • A 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera for fitting more into your photos.
  • A 2-megapixel macro camera for super close-up shots.

It also has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has four cameras on the back, offering even more options:

  • A 48-megapixel main camera for detailed wide photos.
  • An 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom to get closer to distant subjects.
  • A 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera for wide-angle shots.
  • A 5-megapixel color filter camera for special effects.

Its front camera is also 16-megapixels, great for selfies.

Both phones can record high-quality videos in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The front cameras can record videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Screen Display

The OnePlus 8 has a Fluid AMOLED screen that is 6.55 inches big. It has a FullHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). This screen can refresh 90 times per second (90 Hz), making scrolling and games look very smooth. There's a small round cutout in the top left corner for the front camera.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has an even larger and sharper Fluid AMOLED screen, measuring 6.78 inches. It has a higher 2K resolution (3160 x 1440 pixels). This screen is super smooth, refreshing 120 times per second (120 Hz). It also has a small cutout for the camera.

Both phones have a special fingerprint scanner built right into the screen. This lets you unlock your phone just by touching the display.

Sound Quality

Both smartphones have stereo speakers, which means they produce sound from two different places. This makes the sound richer and more immersive when you are watching videos or playing games.

Storage and Memory

The phones come with different amounts of storage and memory. You can choose between:

  • 8 GB of memory (RAM) and 128 GB of storage.
  • 12 GB of memory (RAM) and 256 GB of storage.

The OnePlus 8 Pro uses a slightly faster type of memory called LPDDR5.

Operating System

When they were first released, the OnePlus 8 phones ran on OxygenOS 10, which is based on Android 10. They have since been updated to OxygenOS 11, which is based on Android 11. This software helps your phone run all its apps and features.
