Openair Frauenfeld is a super popular music festival held every year in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. It happens in July and is known as the biggest outdoor festival in Switzerland! It's also the largest hip hop festival in all of Europe.
This awesome event has been around since 1985. It actually started as a different festival called Out in the Green Festival, which played rock and blues music. That festival was also held in Winterthur. In 2007, it changed its name to Openair Frauenfeld and became the hip hop festival we know today. Many famous artists have performed here, and it attracts around 150,000 people each year! Some of the big names who have played include Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Cardi B.
Where is the Festival Held?
The festival takes place in a large grassy area called "Grosse Allmend" in Frauenfeld. Frauenfeld is the main city of the canton of Thurgau.
Most people travel to the festival by train, which is a fun way to get there! There's also some parking available for those who drive.
