History of Opolis
Opolis was first known as Stateline. This name came from how close the community is to the Missouri state line. The town was officially planned out in 1868.
The name "Opolis" comes from the Greek word polis, which means "city". The first post office in Opolis opened in December 1868. Over time, this post office was also called Stevenstown, Steventown, and Olopolis. It has a zip code of 66760.
