ORANGE RANGE (オレンジレンジ, Orenji Renji) is a popular Japanese rock band from Okinawa, Japan. They are signed with Sony Music. The band has five members, all born in the mid-1980s, who create a unique mix of alternative rock, noise rock, and rap rock music.
Band History and Success
Orange Range started their journey in March 2001. The band members were friends from preschool, and Ryo, who is Yoh's younger brother, also joined. Before they became famous, they often performed concerts on the street. More and more people came to watch them play, and their audience grew bigger.
On July 4, 2003, Orange Range officially debuted with their first single, "Kirikirimai." Their second single, "Shanghai Honey," quickly became a big hit and was loved by many. On February 25, 2004, their fifth single, "Michishirube~a road home~," reached the number one spot on the Japanese music charts. After this, many of their songs continued to hit number one, all the way up to their 13th single, "Champione."
Meet the Band Members
Orange Range has five talented members, each bringing their own style to the band.
Naoto is the main guitarist for Orange Range. He is also part of other bands like "Soy-sauce" and "Pechuniarokkusu." He writes more than half of all the songs for Orange Range!
Ryo sings the lower vocal parts in the band. Before joining Orange Range, he was a member of another band called "Ruse." He and Yoh are brothers.
- Yamato Ganeko – High Vocals (born January 14, 1984)
Yamato sings the higher vocal parts. It's said that he hasn't cut his hair since the band released their famous song "Hana."
- Yoh Miyamori – Bassist (born December 11, 1983)
Yoh usually plays the bass guitar for the band. However, when he is creating new songs, he sometimes uses a regular guitar.
Hiroki sings the mid-range vocal parts. It's a funny story that he sometimes brings a screwdriver to recording sessions because it helps him relax. But sometimes, the sound of the screwdriver gets recorded, and they have to record the song again!
