History of Orchard

The Orchard post office has been open since 1882. The community got its name from a group of cottonwood trees. These trees looked like an orchard near where the town first started.

Orchard was also used to film a TV miniseries called Centennial. This show was based on a famous book by James Michener. Most of the old film sets from the production are now gone.
