Oscar started his musical journey with the recorder. Then, he played the trombone for a few years. When he was 14, he decided to focus on the guitar. Soon after, he formed his first band, called The Hippie Killers.
Forming HammerFall
In 1989, Oscar started a death metal band called Desecrator. This band later changed its name to Ceremonial Oath. However, Oscar left the band just before they released their first album. Leaving Ceremonial Oath marked the beginning of HammerFall.
At first, Oscar was mainly focused on his death metal band, Crystal Age. HammerFall was just a side project. He and his friends would practice songs he had written. One of these songs was "Steel Meets Steel." Soon, they recorded their first album, called Glory to the Brave. This album helped HammerFall become well-known.
