Ottmar Kurt Herrmann Walter (born March 6, 1924 – died June 16, 2013) was a famous German football player. He was known for playing as a striker, which means he was good at scoring goals.
Ottmar played alongside his older brother, Fritz Walter, for their club team, 1. FC Kaiserslautern. They were a fantastic duo. They also played together for the Germany national football team. In 1954, they helped West Germany win their first ever FIFA World Cup title. Ottmar scored four goals in that important tournament.
He played 20 games for Germany and scored 10 goals. For his club, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, he scored an amazing 336 goals in 321 league and cup matches. He started playing for the main team when he was 18 years old in 1942.
During World War II, Ottmar Walter was part of the German navy. He suffered a serious injury to his right knee. After many medical operations, he had to stop playing football in 1958.

Ottmar Walter's Football Journey
Early Club Days
Ottmar Walter was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He and his two brothers, Fritz and Ludwig, all joined their local football club, 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This was a very special club for their family.
After playing his first game for Kaiserslautern in 1942, he was sent to Kiel by the navy. While there, he played for another team called Holstein Kiel.
Becoming a Star Striker
By the late 1940s, Ottmar Walter was the main center forward for 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He was very skilled with the ball, just like his brother Fritz. Ottmar was also very fast and had a powerful shot.
He was known for being able to move around the field. Sometimes he would play in the middle, and other times he would move to the side of the field. This made him a difficult player for opponents to defend against.
Life After Football
After his football career ended, Ottmar Walter worked for a while running a gas station. Later, he found a job working for the city of Kaiserslautern. He passed away on June 16, 2013.
