The First Church in Madrid

A group of Catholic men called the Obregonian Brothers started in Madrid, Spain. They were dedicated to helping sick people. Their main building was next to the Church of Buen Suceso. This church was first built around 1529 as a royal hospital.
Later, around 1590, the building was rebuilt as a new church and hospital. Around 1607, Pope Paul V gave the Obregonians a statue of Mary, which was named Virgen del Buen Suceso. Copies of this statue were made, and people started to honor Mary under this name all over Spain and its territories.

Mariana Torres died on January 16, 1635. When her tomb was opened in 1906, her body was found to be preserved. The Catholic Church in Quito began the process to make her a saint in 1984.
Messages About the Future
According to some accounts, the visions of Our Lady of the Good Event included messages about the future. These messages supposedly predicted challenges for the Catholic Church and society in the 19th and 20th centuries. They spoke of a time of difficulty that would be followed by a period of improvement and restoration.
One message, supposedly from 1634, predicted that a teaching called papal infallibility would be declared a belief of the Catholic faith. This teaching states that the Pope cannot be wrong when he speaks officially about faith or morals. This prediction also said it would be declared by the same Pope who would declare the teaching of Mary's Immaculate Conception. In 1854, Pope Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception. Then, in 1870, he declared papal infallibility.
