Owensburg was named after the Owens family. They were some of the first people to settle there. In 2010, about 406 people lived in Owensburg. By 2020, the population was 402.

Where is Owensburg Located?
Owensburg is in the southeastern part of Greene County. Its southern edge is right next to Martin County. The western edge of Owensburg follows Indiana State Road 45.
Getting Around Owensburg
State Road 58 goes right through the middle of Owensburg. If you go east on State Road 58, you will reach Bedford in about 17 miles. If you head west on State Road 58, it joins with State Road 45. This route takes you about 11 miles to Interstate 69 and U.S. Route 231 near Scotland.
State Road 45 also goes north from Owensburg. It's about 4 miles to Interstate 69. If you keep going, you will reach Bloomington in about 25 miles.
