The Palliser Range is a group of mountains in the Canadian Rockies. You can find it in the very southeast part of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It's a special place for nature lovers and adventurers.
Where is the Palliser Range?
This mountain range is located in a beautiful part of Canada. It's part of the larger East Banff Ranges, which are in the front section of the Canadian Rockies.
To the south of the Palliser Range, you'll find the lovely Lake Minnewanka. The Bare Range is located to its north. On its eastern side is Blackrock Mountain, which is near the Ghost River Area. These natural features help define where the Palliser Range begins and ends.
How the Range Got Its Name
The Palliser Range got its name from the Palliser expedition. This was a group of explorers who mapped parts of western Canada a long time ago. They explored the area between 1857 and 1860. The range showed up on one of their maps!
The mountains in this range also give their name to something called the Palliser Formation. This is a special type of rock layer that is very common in these mountains. Geologists, who study rocks, find it very interesting.
