Panoplosaurus was a type of armored dinosaur. It lived during the Upper Cretaceous period, about 76 to 73 million years ago. This dinosaur looked a bit like a walking tank because of its strong armor.
Panoplosaurus was a herbivore, meaning it ate only plants. It likely munched on low-lying plants such as ferns and cycads. This dinosaur was a nodosaurid ankylosaur. Unlike some other ankylosaurs, it did not have a club at the end of its tail.
Panoplosaurus was quite large. It grew to about 7 meters (23 feet) long. It weighed around 3.5 tons, which is as heavy as a large truck! It had a big, bulky body with four short legs. It also had a short neck and a stiff tail.
