Park Bo-young (Hangul: 박보영; born on February 12, 1990) is a talented South Korean actress. She is famous for her main roles in movies like Scandal Makers (2008), A Werewolf Boy (2012), and On Your Wedding Day (2018). She also starred in popular TV shows such as Oh My Ghost (2015), Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017), Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023), and Our Unwritten Seoul (2025).

Early Life and Education
Park Bo-young was born in Jeungpyeong County, which is in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. She is the middle child of three daughters. Her father was a soldier in the Special Forces Brigade for 34 years.
She went to Jeungpyeong Elementary School and Jeungpyeong Girls' Middle School. Later, she studied at Daeseong Girls' Commercial High School. She then attended Dankook University, where she majored in theater and film in the Performing Arts Department.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting Out in Acting
Before she officially started acting in 2006, Park Bo-young appeared in a short film called Equal in 2005. This was when she was still in middle school. The film won an award at the seventh Seoul International Youth Film Festival. Her first TV appearance was in a commercial for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power while she was in high school.
First Roles and Big Success
Park Bo-young officially started her acting career in 2006. She starred in the high school TV series Secret Campus with Lee Min-ho. She also appeared in the historical show The King and I. Another important early role was in the teen drama Jungle Fish with Kim Soo-hyun. This show was based on a true story about students facing pressure to get into good colleges.
Park became very well-known after starring in the comedy movie Scandal Makers. She played a lively teenage mom in the film. This movie was a huge hit in 2008, bringing in 8.3 million viewers. Her performance was highly praised, and she won many "Best New Actress" awards in 2009. People even started calling her "Nation's Little Sister" because of the movie's success. She also acted in a short film called If You Were Me 4 in 2009.
After this, she took a break from acting for a few years due to some difficulties.
Returning to Movies and More Success
In 2011, Park Bo-young became a special ambassador for the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. She returned to acting in 2012 with the horror movie Don't Click. Later that year, she starred with Song Joong-ki in the fantasy romance film A Werewolf Boy. This movie was very popular, selling over 7 million tickets. It became one of the most successful Korean romance movies ever. She even sang a song called "My Prince" for the movie's soundtrack.
In 2013, Park joined the TV show Law of the Jungle. This show followed comedian Kim Byung-man and other celebrities as they explored and survived in the New Zealand wilderness.
In 2014, Park played a different kind of character in Hot Young Bloods. She was a tough leader of a high school gang in this teen romantic comedy set in the 1980s. She enjoyed speaking in a southern dialect for the role, even though it was tricky to learn.
TV Comeback and Continued Popularity
In 2015, Park starred in the mystery thriller The Silenced. This movie was set in a girls' boarding school during the Japanese occupation. After that, she played two different roles in the romantic comedy TV series Oh My Ghost. This was her first TV show in seven years. The show was very successful, and she won the Best Actress award at the 4th APAN Star Awards. The Korean media even called her the "romantic comedy queen."
She also played a character who falls in love with a mutant in the comedy Collective Invention. And she was a new reporter in the workplace comedy You Call It Passion.
In 2017, Park starred in the JTBC series Strong Girl Bong-soon. She played a character with amazing superhuman strength. This show became one of the most popular Korean dramas on cable TV. Its popularity made her one of the most valued Korean TV actors.
In 2018, Park filmed the romance movie On Your Wedding Day. She worked again with Kim Young-kwang, who she had acted with in Hot Young Bloods. The movie was a hit and received good reviews.
In 2019, Park starred in the tvN series Abyss. She played a beautiful prosecutor who changes into a plain-looking girl after being brought back to life by a special orb.
She joined a new agency, BH Entertainment, in 2020.
Recent Projects
In 2021, Park starred in the fantasy romance series Doom at Your Service with Seo In-guk. She also filmed the disaster thriller movie Concrete Utopia with Lee Byung-hun and Park Seo-joon. This movie was released in theaters in August 2023.
In 2023, Park made a special appearance as Do Bong-soon in Strong Girl Nam-soon. She also starred in the Netflix series Daily Dose of Sunshine, which came out in November 2023. In 2024, she played Kwon Young-ji in the Disney+ web series Light Shop. She was also invited to host the opening ceremony of the 29th Busan International Film Festival.
In early 2025, Park starred in the Netflix series Melo Movie with Choi Woo Shik. In June 2025, the series Our Unwritten Seoul aired on tvN and Netflix. In this series, Park took on the challenging role of playing twin sisters. The show was very successful in Korea and received praise worldwide.
Other Activities
Helping Others
Park Bo-young has helped many charitable causes. She has donated her time and effort to organizations like ChildFund Korea. She supported their "Love, One More" campaign in 2014 and the Sandol Green Umbrella Handwriting project in 2017. She also sponsored two children through the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation starting in 2013.
From 2016 to 2019, Park participated in the Share Pad Campaign by LG Unicharm. This campaign provided sanitary pads to girls from families with low incomes. In 2017 and 2019, she held autograph signing events. These events helped donate over a million sanitary pads to the Korean Women's Welfare Association.
In April 2017, Park held another autograph session in Seoul to support an orphanage in Cambodia. All the money raised from this event went to help children in Cambodia.
In February 2020, she donated 50 million won to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak. In August of the same year, she donated 20 million won to help flood victims. She also took part in a charity auction called the WeAja Flea Market in 2020.
In February 2021, she donated 30 million won to Good Neighbors, a non-profit group. This donation helped provide sanitary items for young girls from low-income families. In July, she donated 100,000 face masks to the North Gyeongsang Province Fire Department.
In February 2022, she donated 50 million won to G-Foundation to fund kits with sanitary products for young girls. In March, she donated another 50 million won to help people affected by wildfires. Because of her many donations, Park became a member of the "Hope Bridge Honors Club" in April 2022.
In February 2023, Park donated 30 million won to help people affected by the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.

Personal Life and Health
During a workout before filming the TV series Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017), Park Bo-young tore her ankle ligaments. The hospital suggested she wear a cast, but she used ankle tape and did physical therapy instead so she could keep filming. Two months after the show finished, she had a small surgery. Her agency later said she was recovering well and would start filming On Your Wedding Day (2018) soon. In November 2019, Park announced she would take a short break to recover from an arm injury. She also had surgery to remove a scar on her arm.
