Park Bo-young (Hangul: 박보영; born February 12, 1990) is a famous South Korean actress. She is known for her main roles in popular movies like Scandal Makers (2008), A Werewolf Boy (2012), and On Your Wedding Day (2018). She has also starred in many hit TV shows, including Oh My Ghost (2015), Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017), and Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023).

Early Life and Education
Park Bo-young was born in Jeungpyeong County, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. She is the middle child of three daughters. Her father was a soldier for 34 years.
She went to Jeungpyeong Elementary School and Jeungpyeong Girls' Middle School. Later, she studied Theatre and Film at Dankook University.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting Out (Before 2006)
Park Bo-young first acted in a short film called Equal in 2005. She was still in middle school then! This film won an award at the 7th Seoul International Youth Film Festival. She also appeared in a TV ad for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power while in high school.
First Steps to Fame (2006–2010)
Her official acting career began in 2006 with the TV show Secret Campus. She also appeared in the historical drama The King and I. Another important show was Jungle Fish, which was about the stress students face to get into good colleges.
Park became very famous after starring in the comedy movie Scandal Makers in 2008. This movie was a huge hit, watched by 8.3 million people! Critics praised her acting as a lively teenage mom. She won many "Best New Actress" awards in 2009. Because of the movie's success, people even called her "Nation's Little Sister".
However, in 2010, she had some legal problems with her agency. This meant she couldn't work for a few years.
Return to the Big Screen (2011–2014)
After a break, Park Bo-young returned to acting in 2012. She became a special ambassador for the 2011 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. Her first movie back was the horror film Don't Click.
Later in 2012, she starred with Song Joong-ki in the fantasy romance movie A Werewolf Boy. This movie was also a huge success, selling over 7 million tickets! Park even sang a song called "My Prince" for the movie's soundtrack.
In 2013, Park joined the TV show Law of the Jungle. This show followed celebrities as they explored and survived in the New Zealand wilderness.
In 2014, she tried a different kind of role in Hot Young Bloods. She played a tough leader of a high school gang in this romantic comedy set in the 1980s. She enjoyed using a special southern Korean accent for the role.
TV Comeback and Continued Success (2015–2019)
In 2015, Park starred in the mystery thriller The Silenced. It was set in a girls' school during the Japanese occupation.
Then, she made her big TV comeback after seven years in the romantic comedy Oh My Ghost. She played two different characters in this show! The series was very popular and earned her a "Best Actress" award. The Korean media even called her the "romantic comedy queen."
Park also acted in the dark comedy Collective Invention and the workplace comedy You Call It Passion.
In 2017, Park played the main role in the JTBC series Strong Girl Bong-soon. She played a character with amazing superhuman strength! This show became one of the most-watched Korean dramas on cable TV. Its popularity made her one of the most talked-about Korean TV actors.
In 2018, she starred in the romance film On Your Wedding Day. She worked again with Kim Young-kwang, who she had acted with before. The movie was a success and got good reviews.
In 2019, Park starred in the tvN series Abyss. She played a beautiful prosecutor who changes into a plain-looking girl after being brought back to life by a special orb.
She changed agencies in 2020, signing with BH Entertainment.
Recent Projects (2020–Present)
In 2021, Park starred in the fantasy romance series Doom at Your Service with Seo In-guk. She also filmed the disaster thriller movie Concrete Utopia with Lee Byung-hun and Park Seo-joon, which came out in 2023.
In 2023, she made a special appearance as her character "Do Bong-soon" in Strong Girl Nam-soon. She also starred in the Netflix series Daily Dose of Sunshine.
In 2024, she was cast in the Disney+ web series Light Shop. She was also invited to host the opening ceremony of the 29th Busan International Film Festival.
Other Activities
Helping Others (Philanthropy)
Park Bo-young cares a lot about helping people. She has supported many charities, like ChildFund Korea. She has sponsored two children since 2013.
She also helped with the "Share Pad Campaign" from 2016 to 2019. This campaign provided sanitary pads to girls from families with low incomes. She held autograph events to donate over a million pads to the Korean Women's Welfare Association.
In 2020, she donated 50 million Korean won to help fight COVID-19. She also gave money to help people affected by floods.
In 2021, she donated 30 million won on her birthday to help young girls from low-income families get sanitary items. She also donated 100,000 face masks to fire departments.
In 2022, she continued her donations, giving 50 million won for sanitary product kits and another 50 million won to help people affected by wildfires. Because of her generous donations, she became a member of the "Hope Bridge Honors Club," a group for major donors.
In 2023, she donated 30 million won to help people affected by the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.

Personal Life
Park Bo-young has faced some health challenges during her career. In 2017, she had a minor surgery on her ankle after an injury during filming Strong Girl Bong-soon. She took time to recover and then returned to acting. In 2019, she took another break to heal from an arm injury and had surgery to remove a scar.
