ParknShop (also called PARKnSHOP, Chinese: 百佳) is one of the biggest supermarket chains in Hong Kong. It's a popular place for people to buy groceries and other daily items. ParknShop has over 200 stores across Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China.
The very first ParknShop store opened in Stanley, Hong Kong in 1973. For about ten years, it was mainly a local store. But in the mid-1980s, it started to grow and open stores outside of Hong Kong. ParknShop is part of the AS Watson Group, which is a company owned by CK Hutchison Holdings Limited.

ParknShop in Hong Kong
In Hong Kong, ParknShop has more than 300 stores and employs about 9,000 people. They opened their first extra-large store, called a superstore, in Hong Kong in 1996. It was located in Whampoa Garden and was very big, covering an area of 4,200 square meters. Later, in 2002, they opened an even bigger store, a megastore, in Metro City Tseung Kwan O. This store was huge, with 6,700 square meters of shopping space.
The AS Watson Group, which owns ParknShop, also runs other types of supermarkets. These stores are designed for customers who might be looking for more special or imported products. For example, there's a supermarket called Great at Pacific Place. You can also find Gourmet at Leighton Centre in Causeway Bay.
Another popular brand is Taste, which has stores in many places like Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong and Citygate in Tung Chung. In 2007, they launched a new brand called International by ParknShop. These stores, found in places like Happy Valley, focus on selling organic foods and other unique items. ParknShop was one of the first foreign shops to open in mainland China. This happened in 1984 when they opened a store in Shekou. Their first superstore in mainland China opened in 2000, and a megastore followed in 2001 in the Tianhe area of Guangzhou. Today, there are about sixty ParknShop stores in northern and southern China. You can find them in cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai, and Huizhou.

Ensuring Food Quality
ParknShop sells products under its own special brands, like "private label" and "Best Buy." They also sell products from well-known brands like Waitrose from the UK and Groupe Casino from France.
Like any large food retailer, ParknShop works to make sure the food they sell is safe. Sometimes, issues can happen with food products. For example, in 2007, ParknShop was fined because some fish were wrongly labeled. The court found that the fish was not suitable for people to eat.
In 2015, there was a report about a customer finding a bad egg. ParknShop later worked with the Food and Environment Hygiene Department to look into it. In 2017, when there were concerns about Brazilian meat safety, ParknShop quickly removed all Brazilian pork, beef, and chicken from its shelves to ensure customer safety. Also in 2017, when eggs in Europe were found to have a chemical called Fipronil, ParknShop removed affected eggs from its stores and helped with product recalls. These actions show their commitment to food safety.
