Playing College Football

Patrick Graham played college football at Yale University. He was a defensive lineman, which is a key position on the defense. He earned his degree in sociology in 2002.

Coaching Career Journey

Patrick Graham's coaching journey began in college football before he moved to the NFL.

Early College Coaching

After playing, Graham started coaching at Wagner College as a graduate assistant. He also studied for his business degree there. Later, he coached at the University of Richmond for three seasons. He worked with defensive linemen and then tight ends.

In 2007, he became a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Notre Dame. He then briefly coached defensive linemen at the University of Toledo in 2009.

Time with the New England Patriots

In February 2009, Graham joined the New England Patriots as a coaching assistant. He worked his way up, becoming a defensive assistant coach in 2010.

He was promoted to linebackers coach in 2011. In 2012, he switched to coaching the defensive line. He moved back to coaching linebackers in 2014. During his time with the Patriots, he won a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLIX.

Coaching for the New York Giants

In 2016, Graham was hired by the New York Giants. He worked as their defensive line coach for two seasons.

With the Green Bay Packers

In 2018, Graham moved to the Green Bay Packers. There, he was the linebackers coach and also helped coordinate the team's run game.

Leading the Miami Dolphins Defense

On February 8, 2019, the Miami Dolphins announced Graham as their new defensive coordinator. This meant he was in charge of the entire defense. He reunited with coach Brian Flores, who he had worked with before.

Second Time with the New York Giants

On January 17, 2020, Graham returned to the New York Giants. He took on a bigger role as both assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. He worked under head coach Joe Judge, who he knew from their time with the Patriots.

Joining the Las Vegas Raiders

On February 4, 2022, Graham was hired by the Las Vegas Raiders. He became their defensive coordinator under new head coach Josh McDaniels. They had worked together on the New England Patriots from 2012 to 2015. In 2024, the Raiders decided to keep Graham as defensive coordinator under their new head coach, Antonio Pierce.

Patrick Graham is married to Pamela Best. They have two children named Morgan and Silas.
