Patrizio Buanne's Life Story

Growing Up

Patrizio Buanne was born in Vienna, Austria. His parents were Franco and Alina Buanne. He spent his childhood traveling between Vienna, Austria, and Naples, Italy. Vienna is known as "The heart of Europe," and Naples is a big city in the Mediterranean. Patrizio says these two cities helped shape who he is.

From a young age, Patrizio loved learning languages. He studied different languages at the University of Vienna and in Rome. He can speak many languages, including Italian, German, English, French, Spanish, and Polish. He also loved music, especially classic Italian songs. His parents would play these songs for customers at his father's restaurant.

Patrizio is married and has a daughter named Alina Josephine. They live in Austria.

Starting His Music Career

Patrizio started singing and performing when he was young. Between the ages of 11 and 17, he won several talent shows. This led to small music projects and performances. He even had his own 1950s rock and roll band and performed as a solo artist.

When he was 17, a music manager helped him perform for a large crowd in Poland. He sang a song that was half Italian and half Polish. About 85,000 people were there! This big performance led to his first record, Angelo di Dio, in 1997. That same year, his father passed away. This was a very sad time for Patrizio, and he faced a serious health challenge himself.

At 19, Patrizio finished school in Vienna. He moved to Naples and then Rome. He continued studying languages at university. He also looked for chances to perform in Italy. He appeared on Italian TV shows like Momenti di Gloria. This success helped him get a contract with a production company. Patrizio then started to develop his own ideas for music.

Patrizio wanted to record a collection of romantic Italian songs with an orchestra. He felt that Italian music was more than just opera. He also wanted to honor his father through his music.

Patrizio's Albums and Tours

The Italian (2005)

In 2004, Patrizio found a team that believed in his dream. They started making his album. He auditioned for many record companies until Universal Music signed him. His album, The Italian, was recorded in London at Abbey Road Studios. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra also helped with the music.

The album was released in February 2005. It quickly became very popular. It reached the top ten in the United Kingdom and sold over 100,000 copies in its first week. The Italian earned "gold" status in the UK, Austria, and Finland. This means it sold many copies. It also went "platinum" in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. It even went "double platinum" in South Africa and "triple platinum" in Australia!

After The Italian was released worldwide, Patrizio went on two big tours in 2006. He performed in Australia, Asia, South Africa, and Europe. His live concert DVD, "Patrizio-the new voice of romance," was shown on American TV. This led to his first tour in the United States. In October 2006, Patrizio performed for the National Italian American Foundation in Washington, D.C., where he met the President of the United States.

Forever Begins Tonight (2007)

Patrizio's second album, Forever Begins Tonight, came out in 2007. It reached No. 15 in the UK. It also reached No. 7 on the US Billboard World Albums Chart. The album included an Italian version of the Robbie Williams song "Angels" called "Un Angelo."

In less than two years, Patrizio's first two albums sold more than 2 million copies! This was a huge success, even without a big international radio hit.

Patrizio (2009)

Because his first two albums were so popular, Patrizio decided to take his career to the next level. He wanted to spend more time in the United States. He also wanted to work with experienced people in the music industry. So, he started Mondo Buanne Productions. This group helps Patrizio with his music projects.

This step led to his third album, Patrizio, with Warner Music. He worked with famous producers Humberto Gatica and Brian Rawlings. These producers had worked with big stars like Michael Jackson and Celine Dion. They saw Patrizio's talent and were excited to help him.

For this album, they found more classic Italian songs, which are Patrizio's special style. The album also included his own versions of international songs and new original songs. It was recorded in the United States at the famous Hollywood's Capitol Studios.

In 2011, on Patrizio's birthday, this album reached number 5 on the US Jazz Billboard charts. He then went on his third concert tour. He performed in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, South Africa, and the United States. He was even invited to perform on TV shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Life is Beautiful - Dankie-Suid Afrika (2011)

In 2011, Patrizio also released Life is Beautiful - Dankie-Suid Afrika. This album featured South African pop songs. He sang duets in Afrikaans with singers like Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He also sang in Italian and English. The South African Music Industry gave him the "SA’s Ambassadors Award" for this album.

Wunderbar (2013)

In 2013, Patrizio made an album for his German-speaking fans, especially his friends in Vienna. He called it Wunderbar (meaning "Wonderful" in German). On this album, he mixed more Italian songs he grew up with and new songs that combined German and Italian languages.

Both Life is Beautiful - Dankie-Suid Afrika and Wunderbar led to more tours. He performed in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. He also had concerts in South Africa. He was a special guest at "Classics is Groot," where he sang his hit "Il Mondo." He even sang a duet of the classic "'O sole mio" with 12-year-old Dutch singer Amira Willighagen.

Viva la Dolce Vita (2015)

For his fourth worldwide album, Viva la Dolce Vita, Patrizio continued to be an "Ambassador for the Italian song." He also explored new styles. He sang lively versions of Neapolitan, Sicilian, and other Italian songs. These included "Gli occhi miei" (which is the Tom Jones hit "Help Yourself") and Charlie Chaplin's "Smile" in Italian.

BRAVO Patrizio (2016)

While promoting Viva la Dolce Vita, Patrizio's team planned more concerts. He had tours in 2016 and 2017 in Australia, South Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. He received an award for selling many albums worldwide. A special CD called BRAVO Patrizio was released. It included his most popular songs from his first 10 years.

Italianissimo (2017) and Me Enamoré

Patrizio also worked on his first Spanish-language album. In 2017, his first single, "Me Enamoré," was released. It became the main song for the Mexican TV show "El Vuelo de la Victoria." His album, Italianissimo, came out in February 2018. It included many famous songs like Ti Amo, Volare, and Caruso.

Christmas with Patrizio (2019)

For 15 years, fans and journalists kept asking Patrizio when he would release a Christmas album. He used to joke that he would do it when he got married and became a father. In 2019, Patrizio got married and became a father! This was a very happy time for him. He decided to focus on his personal life for a while. After achieving these personal goals, he was ready to make his first Christmas album. He wished everyone a "Buanne Natale" (a play on his name and "Buon Natale," meaning "Merry Christmas").
