Patricia Jude Francis Kensit (born 4 March 1968) is a famous English actress and singer. She started her career as a child actor when she was very young. Patsy became well-known for appearing in many TV commercials.
She then acted in several movies like The Great Gatsby (1974) and Hanover Street (1979). Patsy also had a successful music career. In 1983, she formed the pop band Eighth Wonder and was their lead singer. The band had popular songs like "I'm Not Scared" and "Cross My Heart".
Later, Patsy became even more famous for her roles in films such as Absolute Beginners (1986) and Lethal Weapon 2 (1989). She also starred in many TV shows. These include the soap operas Emmerdale and EastEnders, and the medical drama Holby City. Patsy Kensit has been married to several musicians.

Early Life and School
Patsy Kensit was born on 4 March 1968, in Lambeth, London. Her parents were James and Margaret Rose Kensit. Her grandparents on her mother's side came from County Leitrim, Ireland. Patsy has an older brother named Jamie, who was born in 1963.
Her mother worked as a secretary and used to be a model. Patsy's father was involved in various activities. Patsy grew up in Hounslow and sometimes had to sleep on mattresses on the floor. She went to Newland House School, St Catherine's School, Twickenham, and Corona Theatre School.
Her Career
Starting Out
Patsy began acting at just four years old in 1972. Her first appearance was in a TV commercial for Birds Eye frozen peas. Her first movie role was in For the Love of Ada.
Two years later, she appeared in The Great Gatsby with famous actors Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. Patsy later played Mia Farrow in a 1995 movie about her life. In 1974, she also had a small part in the film Gold with Roger Moore.
She then starred in Alfie Darling (1975) and had a main role in The Blue Bird (1976). During this time, she became friends with actress Elizabeth Taylor. In 1979, Patsy starred in the war-romance film Hanover Street alongside Harrison Ford. She was nominated for a Young Artist Award for her role in this film.
In the early 1980s, Patsy continued to act in films and TV shows. She played Estella in the BBC's Great Expectations in 1981. She also had an important role in the 1982 BBC production of Richard III.
Becoming Famous
In 1983, Patsy was the main character in the TV series Luna. The next year, she acted in a children's play called The Prattling Princess. In 1985, she appeared in the films Silas Marner and The Corsican Brothers.
Around 1983, Patsy and her brother Jamie Kensit formed the band Eighth Wonder. She wanted to be very famous. In 1986, she got the main female role in the movie Absolute Beginners. In 1987, she sang a duet with Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti.
In 1988, Eighth Wonder had two songs that made it into the Top 40 charts. "I'm Not Scared" reached Number 7 in the UK, and "Cross My Heart" reached Number 13. After the band's success slowed down, Patsy focused more on acting. She starred in the 1989 film Lethal Weapon 2 as Rika van den Haas.
In 1991, she had a main role in the romantic comedy Does This Mean We're Married?. She also starred in the 1991 film Twenty-One, for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Critics praised her performance in the film. In 1992, she played Caroline Wright in the British film Blame it on the Bellboy.
In 1995, Patsy acted with Kristin Scott Thomas in Angels & Insects. Her last big main film role was in The One and Only in 2002.
Recent Work
In 2004, Patsy joined the cast of the soap opera Emmerdale as Sadie King. She also appeared in the comedy show Bo' Selecta!. In 2006, she left Emmerdale because traveling for the show was too much for her and her sons.
In 2007, Patsy joined the BBC One medical drama Holby City as ward sister Faye Morton. She left the show in 2010 but returned for an episode in 2019.
In 2008, Patsy was featured in the TV show Who Do You Think You Are?, where she explored her family history. This episode was very popular. In 2010, Patsy competed on Strictly Come Dancing and finished in seventh place.
In 2015, she was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother. In 2018, Patsy started her "Conscious Puberty" campaign. She uses social media to talk with other women about the challenges of menopause.
In 2021, she appeared on Richard Osman's House of Games and in the film The Pebble and the Boy. In 2022, it was announced that Patsy would join the cast of the BBC soap opera EastEnders. She started playing Emma Harding in January 2023.
Her Personal Life
Patsy Kensit has been married four times. In 1988, she married Dan Donovan from the band Big Audio Dynamite, but they divorced in 1991. In 1992, she married Jim Kerr, the lead singer of Simple Minds. They had a son together before divorcing in 1996.
In 1997, she married Liam Gallagher from the band Oasis. They had a son named Lennon, who was named after John Lennon. Lennon's godmother is actress Elizabeth Hurley. Patsy and Liam divorced in 2000.
She later married DJ Jeremy Healy in 2009, but they separated in 2010. Patsy is a Roman Catholic. She had her children baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She started going to church after her mother passed away.
