Paul Martyn Konchesky (born on May 15, 1981) is an English football coach and former professional player. He played as a left back for many years. He was most recently the manager of West Ham United Women.
During his 21-year career, Konchesky played for several big clubs. These include Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Fulham, Liverpool, and Leicester City. He also played for the England under-21 team 15 times and for the senior England team twice.

About Paul Konchesky
Paul Konchesky was born in Barking, England. He went to Eastbrook Comprehensive School in Dagenham. He started playing football at a young age for Great Danes YFC. He also trained at the Senrab F.C. academy. This academy has helped many famous players, like John Terry and Jermain Defoe, get their start.
Paul joined West Ham's youth academy when he was a boy. His last name comes from his great-grandfather, who was Polish. He has always been a big fan of West Ham United. He even used to have a season ticket for the Bobby Moore Stand. His football hero was Julian Dicks. Paul has two sons and a daughter. His nephew, Frankie Terry, is also a professional footballer.
Paul's Club Career
Playing for Charlton Athletic
Paul Konchesky joined Charlton as a young player in August 1997. He became the youngest player to play for Charlton's first team. This happened when he played against Oxford United in August 1997. He was only 16 years and 93 days old. He became a regular player in the 2000–01 season. He played 27 games that year.
In June 2003, Paul wanted to play more as a left back. He asked to be transferred from Charlton. They agreed, but no other clubs made a strong offer. So, he joined Tottenham on loan instead. Later, many players at Charlton got injured. Paul was called back from Tottenham in December 2003.
Loan to Tottenham Hotspur
In September 2003, Konchesky went to Tottenham Hotspur for a one-month loan. This loan was extended twice, until January 2004. Paul really wanted to join Tottenham permanently. However, a permanent move did not happen.
Playing for West Ham United
Paul Konchesky joined West Ham United in July 2005. The club paid £1.5 million for him. He had played 168 games for Charlton and 15 for Tottenham. In the 2005–06 season, he played 45 games for West Ham. He helped them finish ninth in the Premier League.
West Ham also reached the 2006 FA Cup Final that season. Paul scored a goal in the final against Liverpool. His cross went straight into the net. The game ended 3–3 after extra time. West Ham lost on penalties, and Paul had a penalty kick saved. In the 2006–07 season, he played less often. He left West Ham in July 2007. He had played 70 games for them and scored two goals.
Playing for Fulham

Paul Konchesky signed a four-year contract with Fulham in July 2007. The fee was about £3.25 million. He played his first game for Fulham in the 2008–09 season. This was against Hull City. He made a mistake that helped Hull City score the winning goal. He missed the next game due to injury.
In January 2009, he scored his first goal for Fulham. It was a powerful shot from 35 yards out against his old team, West Ham. This goal won the BBC Goal of the Month award for January 2009. In September 2009, he scored again for Fulham against Everton. Paul played for Fulham in the 2010 UEFA Europa League Final in 2010. Fulham lost 2–1 to Atlético Madrid.
In August 2010, news came out that Paul was going to join Liverpool.
Playing for Liverpool
On August 31, 2010, Konchesky signed a four-year contract with Liverpool. He played his first league game for them on September 12 against Birmingham City. He got injured in that game and had to leave the field. He also played in the UEFA Europa League against Steaua București. Liverpool won that game 4–1.
However, his time at Liverpool was not very successful. He struggled to play well for the club. Fans even cheered sarcastically when he was taken off the field in a game against Wolves.
Loan to Nottingham Forest
In January 2011, a new manager, Kenny Dalglish, took over at Liverpool. Paul Konchesky was not playing as much. So, on January 31, he joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal. He played his first game for Forest on February 1. This was a 2–1 win against Coventry City. He scored a goal for Forest on February 22 against Preston North End. He played his last game for Forest on April 30, 2011.
Playing for Leicester City

Paul Konchesky joined Leicester City on July 13, 2011. He signed a three-year contract. He played his first game for Leicester on August 20, 2011. This was a 2–2 draw against Nottingham Forest. He scored his first goal for Leicester in a 3–1 win against Burnley on November 1, 2011.
In August 2013, Paul was almost going to leave Leicester. But a transfer deal fell through, and he returned to the team. He signed a new contract in January 2014. Paul was a very important player when Leicester won promotion to the Premier League in the 2013–14 season. In the 2014–15 season, he helped the club stay in the Premier League. He scored his first Premier League goal in a long time on January 10, 2015, in a 1–0 win against Aston Villa.
On August 4, 2015, Konchesky joined Queens Park Rangers on a loan for the season. He played his first game for QPR in a 2–0 loss against Charlton. Leicester released him from his contract on June 27, 2016.
Later Career: Gillingham and Billericay
On July 21, 2016, Konchesky joined Gillingham for one year. He stayed with Gillingham until February of the next year. Then, he moved to Billericay Town, a non-league club. He played 12 games in the 2016–17 season. He played 11 more games the next season before leaving Billericay in November 2017.
In July 2018, Konchesky joined East Thurrock United. On August 19, 2018, he announced that he had left the club. He returned to Billericay Town in 2020 and played three more games.
International Career
Paul Konchesky played 15 games for the England national under-21 football team. He also played two games for the senior England team. His first game for England was in February 2003. He came on as a substitute in a friendly game against Australia. His second game was in November 2005, also as a substitute, in a friendly against Argentina.
Coaching Career
In 2017, Konchesky went back to West Ham to work as a coach. In August 2020, he rejoined Billericay as an assistant manager. He was also registered as a player. However, he left the club in December 2020.
Paul Konchesky became the assistant manager for West Ham United Women in May 2021. In May 2022, he became their manager. He managed the team for the 2022–23 FA WSL season. On May 28, 2023, West Ham announced that Konchesky was leaving his job as manager.
