Paulo César Vieira Rosa (born on September 28, 1963), known as Paulinho McLaren, is a Brazilian football manager and former player. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. He is currently working with São Caetano.

Paulinho was born in Igaraçu do Tietê, Brazil. He became famous for scoring many goals. He was the top scorer in the 1991 Brazilian Serie A with 15 goals while playing for Santos FC. In 1994, he was also the top scorer in the Brazil Cup with 6 goals, playing for Internacional. He stopped playing football in 1999 after his time with Santa Cruz.

He got his cool nickname "McLaren" in 1991. This happened when he celebrated a goal just like the famous Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. Senna was driving for the McLaren team at that time.

Paulinho's Playing Career

Paulinho McLaren played for many different football clubs during his career. He started playing professionally in 1981. He spent several years moving between various Brazilian clubs.

Time at Santos FC

One of his most notable periods was with Santos FC from 1989 to 1992. Here, he showed his amazing goal-scoring skills. He scored 40 goals in 62 games for the club. This is where he became the top scorer in the 1991 Brazilian Serie A.

Playing in Europe and Japan

After his success in Brazil, Paulinho moved to Europe. He played for Porto in Portugal from 1992 to 1993. He also played in Japan for Bellmare Hiratsuka in 1996. Playing in different countries showed his adaptability as a player.

Later Career and Retirement

Paulinho returned to Brazil and played for several more clubs, including Portuguesa, Cruzeiro, and Fluminense. He finished his playing career in 1999 with Santa Cruz.
