The Pauschikushish Ewiwach River is a river located in Quebec, Canada. It flows into Dana Lake (Eeyou Istchee Baie-James). This river is part of the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James (municipality) area, which is in the Nord-du-Québec region.

The area around the Pauschikushish Ewiwach River does not have many roads. However, a northern route from Matagami passes about 3.1 kilometers (1.9 miles) west of the river. The river usually freezes from early November to mid-May. It's generally safe to walk or travel on the ice from mid-November to mid-April.

  • 10.7 kilometers (6.6 miles) south of Evans Lake.
  • 20.0 kilometers (12.4 miles) southeast of where the Pauschikushish Ewiwach River ends.
  • 34.2 kilometers (21.3 miles) southeast of where Dana Lake (Eeyou Istchee Baie-James) ends.
  • 99 kilometers (61.5 miles) north of downtown Matagami.

River's Journey: Flow

The Pauschikushish Ewiwach River flows for about 74.8 kilometers (46.5 miles). Its journey can be divided into two main parts.

Upper Part of the River

The upper part of the river is about 57.4 kilometers (35.7 miles) long.

  • It flows 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) east to meet a creek coming from the northeast.
  • Then, it turns west for 21.0 kilometers (13.0 miles). It passes north of a mountain that is 322 meters (1,056 feet) high. It then meets the Iskaskunikaw River coming from the south.
  • Next, it flows 12.3 kilometers (7.6 miles) northwest. It passes northeast of Kakusikuch Hill (256 meters or 840 feet high) and meets Kakuskwapiminakuch Creek from the south.
  • Finally, it flows 10.4 kilometers (6.5 miles) north through the Amikanan Rapids. It then makes a turn to the east before joining the Matawawaskweyau River coming from the west.

Lower Part of the River

The lower part of the river is about 17.4 kilometers (10.8 miles) long.

  • It flows 4.7 kilometers (2.9 miles) northeast through a marshy area. It then meets Kapisaukanwe Creek from the southeast.
  • It continues 3.1 kilometers (1.9 miles) northeast through another marshy area. It then meets Matawawskweyasi Creek from the northwest.
  • Next, it flows 6.1 kilometers (3.8 miles) east, making a turn to the south. It then meets Mitapeschiskau Creek coming from the northeast.
  • Finally, it flows 0.8 kilometers (0.5 miles) north to its end.

River's End: Mouth

The Pauschikushish Ewiwach River ends in a bay on the south shore of Dana Lake (Eeyou Istchee Baie-James). From there, the water flows north and east into a bay west of Evans Lake.
