Pembroke is a city in Bryan County, Georgia, USA. It's also the main town, or county seat, for Bryan County. In 2020, about 2,513 people lived here. Pembroke is about 35 miles west of Savannah and 20 miles south of Statesboro. It's part of the larger Savannah area.

History of Pembroke
Pembroke started in 1892 as a railroad town. It was a place where turpentine was shipped out. The town got its name from an early resident, Pembroke Whitfield Williams. It officially became a city in 1905.
Moving the County Seat
In 1935, people voted to move the county seat from Clyde to Pembroke. The first meeting of the County Commissioners in Pembroke happened on February 15, 1937. This made Pembroke the main center for Bryan County.
Tornadoes in Pembroke
Pembroke has faced strong storms over the years.
- On April 9, 1998, a powerful F3 tornado hit the city. It caused a lot of damage and sadly, two people died. Seventeen others were hurt.
- On April 5, 2022, another strong tornado, an EF2, struck the town. It damaged many buildings, trees, and power lines. This tornado later became even stronger (EF4) in Black Creek. It caused huge damage there, killing one person and injuring 12.
Historic District
The Pembroke Historic District is a special area in the city. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it has important old buildings and sites that are protected.

Pembroke is located in the northern part of Bryan County. Its exact location is 32°08′24″N 81°37′25″W / 32.139892°N 81.623553°W.
Roads and Size
U.S. Route 280 goes right through the middle of Pembroke. This road leads east about 10 miles to Interstate 16. It continues about 35 miles to Savannah. If you go west on U.S. Route 280, you'll reach Claxton in about 16 miles.
The United States Census Bureau says Pembroke covers a total area of about 7.69 square miles (19.9 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 7.64 square miles (19.6 square kilometers), is land. Only a small part, about 0.08 square miles (0.2 square kilometers), is water.
