About Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw
Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw has two main high points. These are named Stac Rhos and Pen y Cerrig Duon. Interestingly, Pen y Cerrig Duon was once on a special list of mountains. But after new measurements, it was removed from that list.
What is a "Nuttall"?
You might see words like "Hewitt" or "Nuttall" when talking about mountains. These are special lists of mountains in England and Wales. To be on the "Nuttall" list, a mountain needs to be at least 2,000 feet (about 610 meters) high. It also needs to rise a certain amount from the land around it. When a mountain is "deleted" from the Nuttall list, it means new surveys showed it didn't quite meet the requirements anymore.
Exploring the Summit
The very top of Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw is marked by a small pile of stones. This pile is called a cairn. It helps hikers know they've reached the highest point. This cairn is very close to a track road. This road continues on towards the pass between Cyrniau Nod and another peak called Y Groes Fagl.
Views from the Top
From the summit, you can see far into the distance. The area around the mountain is mostly flat, open moorland. Moorland is a type of wild, open land often covered with low-growing plants like heather. While the views are wide, they might seem a bit plain because the landscape is so open and flat.
