Perry is a city in Shiawassee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It's a friendly place with a population of about 2,000 people. Even though it's surrounded by Perry Township, the city and township are managed separately.

Perry's Story: A Look Back
Perry has had a post office since 1850, which means people have been sending mail there for a very long time! The city got its name from Oliver Hazard Perry, a brave American naval commander who was famous during the War of 1812.
Perry officially became a village in 1893 and then a city in 1964. It is also home to the Calkins-McQueen Museum. This old home is now a museum and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special place recognized for its history. The Perry Historical Society helps take care of the museum today.

Perry is located in Michigan. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers about 3.17 square miles (8.21 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 2.92 square miles (7.56 square kilometers). The rest, about 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometers), is water.
