History of Perry, Ohio

Perry village is named after a famous naval hero, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. He was known for his big victory over the British fleet. This happened at the Battle of Lake Erie in September 1813. This battle was a very important moment during the War of 1812. It helped turn the tide of the war in the western part of the country.
The village is also known for its public schools. These schools have seen new buildings and updates. This growth was partly influenced by the nearby Perry Nuclear Generating Station.
