Phil Bates (born September 20, 1989) is a former American football player. He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). A wide receiver is a player who catches passes from the quarterback. Phil Bates played college football for the Ohio Bobcats. He later joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. With the Seahawks, he helped his team win Super Bowl XLVIII. This is one of the biggest championships in American football.

Phil Bates started his college football career at Iowa State University. He played there from 2007 to 2008. During this time, he played as both a quarterback and a wide receiver. A quarterback is the player who leads the team's offense and throws the ball.
