Piera is a town and a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. It's located in the southeastern part of the Anoia region. The town sits on the left bank of the Anoia river.
Piera is known for its farming. Farmers grow crops like cereals, grapes, olives, and almonds. The town also has some light industries. These include making textiles, plastics, and building materials. During the summer, many tourists visit Piera, which helps the local economy.

Getting Around Piera

Fontanet Castle
One notable building is the castle of Fontanet. This castle was first mentioned in records from the year 955. It was restored in 1916 by Ramon de Viala d'Aiguavives. He was known as the Baron of Almenar. Today, the castle is used for private events.
Ca n'Aguilera Church
The sister of the Baron of Almenar, Isabel de Viala d'Aiguavives, helped fund a special church. This is the modernist church of Ca n'Aguilera. It was given to the Bishop of Barcelona in 1921. The church was designed by Francesc Berenguer i Mestres. He was a student and friend of the famous architect Antoni Gaudi.
Santa Maria Church
Another important monument in Piera is the church of Santa Maria. This church has a mix of old styles. You can see both Gothic and Roman elements in its design.
