History of Pierce
Pierce was officially planned and laid out in 1871. This is called being "platted." A courthouse was built in the same year. The city, like Pierce County, was named after Franklin Pierce, who was a President of the United States.
In 2013, Pierce became famous around the world because of something called the Lambrecht auto auction. At this auction, almost 500 old and classic cars were sold. It was a big event that brought many visitors to the city.
