Pilar Boyero Gómez (born May 28, 1974), known as Pilar Boyero, is a famous Spanish singer. She is also a radio presenter and a professor. Pilar specializes in a type of Spanish music called copla. She was born in Cáceres, Spain. People often call her "La Catedrática de la Copla," which means "The Professor of Copla."

About Pilar Boyero
Pilar Boyero studied law at the University of Extremadura. She also studied singing and piano for five years. This was at the "Hermanos Berzosa" Official Conservatory of Music in Cáceres. She was also a soloist with the university choir.
Later, she went to Seville to study with Maestro Borriño. There, she focused on learning more about copla music. She continued her studies in Madrid with Maestro Bazán.
Starting Her Music Career
Pilar decided to become a professional copla singer in 1992. Before that, she was already well-known for singing copla. She performed at local events and festivals.
In 1992, she took part in a special event. It was a tribute to the composer Juan Solano in Cáceres. She performed with famous artists like Lolita Sevilla and Paquita Rico. Pilar also joined music programs by the Junta de Extremadura. These included "Estivalia" and "Otoño Musical."
First Albums and Performances
In 1995, Pilar released her first album, "El cante mío." It was recorded in Mérida. This album was played on major Spanish radio stations. These included Cadena Dial and Radio Nacional de España.
She often performed outside her home region. She sang in Spanish clubs in cities like Igualada and Vitoria. She also performed in theaters in Madrid. In May 1995, she was a guest artist on a TV show in Madrid.

In September 2002, she was part of a musical show. It was called "Extremadura, los sonidos de un pueblo." This show was for the Day of Extremadura in the Roman Theater of Mérida.
That same year, she started her show "Una vida Entera." This project included international artists. She performed with American trumpeter Jerry González and pianist Chano Domínguez. Other artists were saxophonist Jorge Pardo and violinist Ara Malikian. They performed together for the first time in August 2002.
On June 4, 2004, she released her album "Una vida entera." She performed with Chano Domínguez and Jerry González in Cáceres. This album mixed copla with salsa and jazz. It was a big step in her career.
Since 2006, Pilar has hosted a radio show. It is called "Soy lo prohibido" on Canal Extremadura Radio. The show is all about copla music. She also had a section called "La copla por montera" on the same station.
Awards and Tributes
In May 2008, over 40 artists honored Pilar. They held an exhibition called "Divina Pilar" in Cáceres. The exhibition showed photos and paintings of Pilar. It celebrated her as the "queen of copla."
In 2009, she was the herald for the Medieval Carnival of Cáceres. She also appeared in a short film called "¡Cuánta mentira!"
In 2010, she released the album "Cáceres-Manhattan." It featured poems by Santiago Tobar. The album explored human relationships. It blended poetry, copla, and other music styles.
Since 2011, Pilar teaches 'History of Copla' at the University of Extremadura.

On November 15, 2021, she honored Rocío Jurado with a show. It was called "Algo se nos fue contigo." The show featured a large orchestra and flamenco dancers. Many famous people attended the event.
Days later, she performed with Omara Portuondo and Enrique Heredia Negri. This was in a show called "Canciones de ida y vuelta."
In April 2022, Pilar was a jury member for the San Remo Music Awards Cuba. She also performed concerts and gave talks in Cuba. She sang with artists like Waldo Mendoza and Israel Rojas.

Helping Others
Since 2006, Pilar has worked with people who have Alzheimer's disease. She sings copla for them. This music helps them feel better.
Since 2016, she has given concerts in nursing homes. She performs with pianist Pedro Monty. These concerts are part of programs like "Vivir la copla" and "Te recuerdo." These programs are supported by local governments.
