History
Pilger started as a town in 1880. This was when the railroad tracks reached that area. The village was named after Peter Pilger, who owned the land where the town was built. Pilger officially became a village in 1887.
The Chicago & North Western railroad stopped its service to Pilger in 1982. This happened because floods damaged many parts of the track. Also, fewer goods were being shipped by train. The tracks were removed a few years later.
