Pinconning Township is a special kind of local government area called a civil township. It's located in Bay County, in the state of Michigan, United States. In 2020, about 2,299 people lived here. Pinconning Township is part of the larger Bay City area.
The township was officially started on February 28, 1873. The city of Pinconning is completely surrounded by the township, but it has its own separate government. The name "Pinconning" comes from a Native American word, O-pin-nic-con-ing, which means "potato place."

- Woodville is a small, unnamed community within the township. You can find it at 7 Mile Road and Cody Estey Road, just west of Interstate 75. It sits about 627 feet (191 meters) above sea level.
A Look Back: History of Pinconning Township
The first post office in an area called White Feather opened on October 14, 1874. It was located on Whitefeather Road, just east of N Huron Road. This post office closed and reopened a few times. It first closed on March 16, 1875, then reopened on May 24, 1875, and closed again on June 27, 1878.
The White Feather post office was opened for a third time on November 10, 1879. It finally closed for good on June 14, 1881. White Feather was the last stop on the Mackinaw Branch of the Michigan Central Railroad within Pinconning Township. Woodville was the last stop on the Gladwin Branch of the same railroad.

Pinconning Township is in the northern part of Bay County. It's located along the western shore of Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay. The total area of the township is about 108.7 square kilometers (42.0 square miles). Most of this area, about 95.0 square kilometers (36.7 square miles), is land. The rest, about 13.7 square kilometers (5.3 square miles), is water. This means about 12.63% of the township is covered by water.
The Pinconning River flows through the southern part of the township. It travels eastward towards Saginaw Bay.
