Pine Ridge (in the Lakota language, wazíbló) is a community in South Dakota, United States. It's the largest town in Oglala Lakota County. Pine Ridge is important because it is the main office for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. In 2020, about 3,138 people lived here.

History of Pine Ridge
The town of Pine Ridge got its name from the many pine trees growing on the ridges around it. It was sometimes called Pine Ridge Agency in the past.
In 1975, there was a serious event on the Pine Ridge reservation involving agents from the FBI and Native American activists. This event led to a legal case that was widely discussed.

Pine Ridge is located in the state of South Dakota. The community covers an area of about 3.2 square miles (8.2 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small amount of water.
