Plainview is a city located in Wabasha County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,483 people lived there. This was a small increase from 3,340 people in 2010.
A famous author named Jon Hassler grew up in Plainview. Some of the places he wrote about in his books were inspired by this very town.

History of Plainview
Plainview was first planned out in 1857. When a city is "platted," it means its streets and lots are officially mapped. The city got its name because it sits on a high, flat area. From this spot, you can see a "plain view" of the land around it.
A post office has been open in Plainview since 1857. The city officially became an incorporated city in 1875. This means it gained its own local government.
Geography and Location
According to the United States Census Bureau, Plainview covers a total area of about 2.16 square miles (5.55 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Several important roads run through the city. These include Minnesota Highway 42, Minnesota Highway 247, and County Highway 4. These routes help people travel in and out of Plainview.

- Slim Dunlap was born in Plainview. He became a well-known guitarist, especially for the band The Replacements.
- Joseph Ray Watkins was an entrepreneur. He founded a company called Watkins Incorporated.
