Plupp is a super cool character from a series of children's books! These books were written by a Swedish author named Inga Borg, who first created Plupp way back in 1955. Plupp is a tiny creature with bright blue hair and a cute red nose. They live in a special hut called a kåta by a lake named Blåvattnet, which means "Blue Waters." This lake is located far up north in a place called Sápmi.
Inga Borg described Plupp as an "invisibling." This means Plupp is invisible to humans. Plupp is also a mix of human and animal. Borg wanted to create a character that all kids could relate to. That's why Plupp is neither male nor female. Plupp can also talk to animals! Two of Plupp's best friends are Lämmel the lemming and Hermelin the stoat.
The books about Plupp have been translated into many languages. These include Danish, Inari Sami, Northern Sami, Skolt Sami, English, Esperanto, Finnish, French, Faroese, Greenlandic, Icelandic, Norwegian, and German. In 1968, Inga Borg even turned the books into an animated TV show called Plupp och hans vänner ("Plupp and his friends").
In 1970, Inga Borg won a special prize for the Plupp books. She received the Elsa Beskow Award, which is a big honor for children's book creators in Sweden.
