Pokémon the Movie: Black—Victini and Reshiram and Pokémon the Movie: White—Victini and Zekrom are two exciting animated films from Japan. They were made by studios like OLM, Inc. and Production I.G. These movies came out on July 16, 2011. They are the 14th movies in the popular Pokémon film series.

Both films tell a similar story. They are about a man named Damon who wants to bring back his old kingdom. He tries to do this by using the powers of the special Pokémon, Victini. He also gets help from a powerful dragon Pokémon. In Black—Victini and Reshiram, Damon finds the Pokémon Zekrom. In White—Victini and Zekrom, he finds the Pokémon Reshiram. These films earned over $57 million in Japan.

The Story of the Movies

The two Pokémon movies, Black—Victini and Reshiram and White—Victini and Zekrom, have very similar plots. However, some Pokémon and events are different in each version. For example, in Black—Victini and Reshiram, Damon finds Zekrom. But in White—Victini and Zekrom, he finds Reshiram. Also, Damon uses a Gothitelle in the Black movie and a Reuniclus in the White movie.

A Kingdom's Past

A long time ago, about 1,000 years ago, there was a special Pokémon named Victini. Victini could make other Pokémon stronger. It was friends with the king of a place called the Kingdom of the Vale. The people and Pokémon in this kingdom lived in peace. They used a special energy called the Dragon Force. The king's two sons had powerful dragon Pokémon, Reshiram and Zekrom. But the brothers became enemies, and their dragons fought. Reshiram and Zekrom were badly hurt and turned into stones. They then fell into a long sleep.

After this, the Dragon Force became dangerous. To control it, the king built giant Pillars of Protection around his castle. He used Victini's powers to move the castle, known as the Sword of the Vale. The castle moved to a mountaintop where Eindoak Town is now. The king used up all his power and passed away. Victini became trapped inside the barrier around the castle. Over time, the people of the kingdom spread out, leaving Victini alone.

Damon's Plan

In the present day, the old kingdom's land is hard to live in. Damon is a descendant of the people who lived there. He wants to bring the kingdom back to life. He also wants to bring the scattered people back together. This was a wish his mother, Juanita, had when he was a child. Damon finds either Zekrom or Reshiram in caves under the castle. He hears the dragon Pokémon's voice calling him.

Damon doesn't know that his plan could destroy the whole world. The dragon Pokémon shows him how to move the castle. It also shows him how to use the Dragon Force's energy.

Ash Meets Victini

At Eindoak Town's harvest festival, Pokémon trainers Ash Ketchum, Iris, and Cilan join a Pokémon battle. Damon's sister, Carlita, notices something special. Victini has been secretly boosting the power of Ash's Tepig and Scraggy. Ash offers Victini some of Cilan's tasty macarons. Ash and his friends quickly become friends with Victini.

The next day, Ash promises to take Victini to the ocean. But Damon then forces Victini to use its power. He wants Victini to help move the castle and send the Dragon Force's energy to the old kingdom. Ash and Juanita try to stop Damon. But Zekrom and Damon's Gothitelle (or Reshiram and Damon's Reuniclus) stop them. Ash goes into the caves to find Reshiram or Zekrom for help.

Stopping the Dragon Force

As Reshiram and Zekrom battle, they both see the dangerous Dragon Force. They realize it could destroy everything. So, they stop fighting each other and work together to stop it. Zekrom or Reshiram then frees Victini. Damon finally sees how dangerous the Dragon Force has become. He uses the castle to try and control the wild energy. Reshiram and Zekrom help him.

Everyone leaves the castle, but Damon wants to fix his mistake. Victini is still trapped by the barrier. Ash and Pikachu don't want to leave Victini behind. The Dragon Force gets even more dangerous, and the castle floats high into the sky. Victini seems to sacrifice itself to break the pillars. The contained Dragon Force energy shoots into space. Damon, Reshiram, and Zekrom guide the castle back to the town. They seal away the Dragon Force once again.

Later, Ash, Iris, and Cilan visit a beach. They throw one of Cilan's macarons into the ocean to remember Victini. Suddenly, Victini appears and eats it! Victini is now free from the barrier. It plans to restore the valley in its own way. Damon asks for forgiveness, and Juanita forgives him.

• Damon (ドレッド, Doreddo): He is a main character who wants to bring back his old kingdom. In White—Victini and Zekrom, he wears lighter clothes and uses a Reuniclus. In Black—Victini and Reshiram, he wears winter clothes and uses a Gothitelle.
• Carlita (カリータ, Karīta): Damon's younger sister. She uses a powerful Hydreigon in battles. In the White movie, her Hydreigon is a special shiny version.
• Juanita (ジャンタ, Janta): Damon and Carlita's mother. She runs a shop and has a Golurk that helps her. In the Black movie, her Golurk is a special shiny version.
• Mannes (モーモント, Mōmonto): He is the Mayor of Eindoak Town. He knows a lot about the legend of Victini.
• Luisa (セード, Sēdo) and Luis (オード, Ōdo): These are two children from the People of the Vale.
• Victini (ビクティニ, Bikutini): A special Legendary Pokémon that lives in Eindoak. It has amazing powers that it can share with its friends.

Movie Promotions

To celebrate the release of these movies, special promotions were held.

• In Japan, players of the Pokémon Black and White video games could download a unique Victini. This Victini knew special moves like Searing Shot and V-Create. It also knew Fusion Flare and Fusion Bolt, which are moves of Reshiram and Zekrom.
• In the US, players could also download this special Victini to their games. Later, players could download a powerful Level 100 Reshiram or Zekrom. These promotions allowed players to get special items and C-Gear skins in their games.
