History of Polkville
A historic building called the John Lattimore House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This list helps protect important places.
Geography and Location
Polkville is found in the northwestern part of Cleveland County. North Carolina Highway 226 runs through the middle of the town. This highway goes southeast about 12 miles (19 km) to Shelby. It also goes northwest over the South Mountains for about 31 miles (50 km) to Marion.
North Carolina Highway 182 starts in Polkville at NC 226. It then goes east about 25 miles (40 km) to Lincolnton. Another road, North Carolina Highway 10, also begins in Polkville. It travels northeast about 36 miles (58 km) to Newton.
The United States Census Bureau says that Polkville covers a total area of 1.86 square miles (4.8 km²). All of this area is land.

Polkville Rodeo Event
The Polkville Rodeo is an exciting event that happens every year. It takes place at the Mintz Arena, which is part of the Polkville Baptist Church. This rodeo is approved by the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA). It is put on by the F-K Rodeo Company from Charlotte.
You can buy tickets early at local shops or at the gate on the day of the event. All the money raised from the rodeo helps church members. It supports them when they want to go on mission trips or help with disaster relief efforts.
