New Jersey Route 23 runs through the east side of Pompton Plains. This road goes northwest about 22 miles to Franklin. It also goes south about 5 miles to Interstate 80 in Wayne. Interstate 287 also passes through the northwest part of Pompton Plains. The closest way to get on I-287 is from Exit 52 (Route 23) in Riverdale.
