Prince Henry of Bourbon-Parma, Count of Bardi (born 12 February 1851 in Parma, Italy – died 14 April 1905 in Menton, France) was a member of the House of Bourbon-Parma. He was the youngest son of Charles III, Duke of Parma. His mother was Princess Louise Marie Thérèse of France.
Henry was also a great-grandson of Charles X of France, who was once the King of France. His uncle, Henri, comte de Chambord, was a person who claimed to be the rightful King of France for many years.
Henry's Marriages
Prince Henry was married two times during his life. Sadly, he did not have any children from either marriage.
First Marriage
Henry first married Princess Maria Luisa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. They got married on 25 November 1873 in Cannes, France. Maria Luisa was the youngest daughter of Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies.
Sadly, Maria Luisa passed away just three months after their wedding. She was only 19 years old. They did not have any children together.
Second Marriage
Henry married for a second time to Infanta Adelgundes of Portugal. Their wedding took place on 15 October 1876 in Salzburg, Austria. Adelgundes was the fifth child of Miguel of Portugal.
This marriage also did not result in any children.
Where Henry Lived
Prince Henry and his second wife, Adelgundes, owned a beautiful palace in Venice, Italy. This palace was called Ca' Vendramin Calergi. It was located right on the famous Grand Canal.
In September 1882, they welcomed the family of Richard Wagner to stay at their palace. Wagner was a very famous German composer. He lived there until he passed away the following February.
