How Profondeville Grew
Profondeville was not always its current size. After 1974, many smaller towns in Belgium joined together. This is called the "fusion of Belgian municipalities."
Profondeville grew by adding several nearby areas. These included the former towns of Arbre, Bois-de-Villers, Lesve, Lustin, and Rivière. A small part of the Lakisse area from Floreffe also became part of Profondeville.

Twin Towns
Profondeville has a special friendship with another town. This is called a "twin town" or "sister city" relationship. It helps people from different places learn about each other's cultures.
