Floreffe is a charming municipality located in the province of Namur, Belgium. It's a part of Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium.

As of January 1, 2012, Floreffe was home to 7,883 people. The area of the municipality is about 38.89 square kilometers (about 15 square miles). This means there are around 203 people living in each square kilometer.

In 1977, a small area called Lakisse, which was part of Floreffe, became part of the nearby municipality of Profondeville. This change helped to make the borders of the municipalities clearer.

The most well-known landmark in Floreffe is the Floreffe Abbey. This impressive abbey was founded way back in the 12th century, which means it's nearly 900 years old! It was originally a monastery for monks.

Over the centuries, the abbey played an important role in the local community. However, during the French Revolution in the late 1700s, many religious institutions, including Floreffe Abbey, were closed down. Today, parts of the abbey are still standing and are a popular place to visit.
