Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan Siddiqi Bayafandi (born August 20, 1671 – died June 1, 1748) was a very important nobleman in India. He came from both Indian and Turkish families. He is famous for starting the Asaf Jahi dynasty, a powerful family that ruled for a long time.

He also founded the Hyderabad State, which was a large and important kingdom in India. He ruled this state from 1724 until his death in 1748. Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan was known by several important titles. These included Chin Qilich Khan, given to him by Emperor Aurangzeb. He was also called Nizam-ul-Mulk by Emperor Farrukhsiyar. Later, Emperor Muhammad Shah gave him the title Asaf Jah. These titles showed his high rank and power in the Mughal Empire.

Early Life and Beginnings

Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan was born in Agra, a city in what was then the Mughal Empire. This city is now in Uttar Pradesh, India. His father was Nawab Ghazi ud-Din Khan Feroze Jung I and his mother was Wazir un-nisa Begum. He grew up in a time when the Mughal Empire was very strong.

From a young age, he showed great skill and leadership. He joined the Mughal army and quickly rose through the ranks. He became a Sowar, which was a cavalry soldier. Later, he became a Faujdar, a military commander. His abilities were noticed by the emperors.

Rise to Power

Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan earned many important titles as he served the Mughal Empire. One of his first big titles was Chin Qilich Khan. Emperor Aurangzeb gave him this title in 1690 or 1691. This showed that he was a brave and skilled warrior.

As he gained more experience, he was given even bigger roles. He became a Subadar, which meant he was a governor of a large area. In 1713, Emperor Farrukhsiyar gave him the title Nizam-ul-Mulk. This title meant "Administrator of the Realm" and showed his importance in the government. He even became the Grand Vizier, which was like the chief minister of the Mughal Empire.

Founding the Hyderabad State

By 1724, the Mughal Empire was starting to become weaker. Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan, who was now known as Nizam-ul-Mulk, decided to establish his own independent state. This state was called the Hyderabad State. He became its first ruler, known as the Nizam of Hyderabad.

He ruled Hyderabad for many years, from 1724 until 1748. During his rule, he worked hard to make Hyderabad a strong and stable kingdom. He focused on good governance and making sure his people were well. His leadership helped Hyderabad become a powerful center in southern India.
