Qaqulluit (pronounced "Ka-kool-loo-it") is a small island in Canada's Arctic. Its name comes from the Inuktitut word for "northern fulmar," a type of seabird. This island is found off the eastern coast of Baffin Island in Nunavut. It's part of the large group of islands known as the Arctic Archipelago.
Qaqulluit is located in a body of water called Davis Strait, specifically in an area known as Merchants Bay. It's close to other islands like Paallavvik and Aggijjat, near the Cumberland Peninsula. No people live on Qaqulluit Island.

The northeastern tip of Qaqulluit Island is called Nuvuttiq. This spot is also a Canadian Important Bird Area. It's recognized as an International Biological Program site and a Key Terrestrial Bird Habitat site. This means it's a very important place for birds to live and raise their young.
