Lee Ji-hyun (Hangul: 이지현; born 12 December 1986), known by her stage name Qri (Hangul: 큐리), is a South Korean singer, actress, and model. She is best known as a member of the popular K-pop girl group T-ara, which she joined in July 2009.

Beyond music, Qri has also shown her talents in acting and fashion design. She played a supporting role in the highly praised drama Queen Seondeok. In 2021, she launched her own jewelry brand called "Qriel."

Early Life and School

Lee Ji-hyun was born on December 12, 1986. She went to Juyeob High School, where she was very active. She was the class president, secretary, and even the student body president.

Later, she studied Film and Musical at Myongji University. Her fellow T-ara group member, Boram, was in the same class. Before becoming a singer, Qri was a well-known model. She was famous online as an "ulzzang," which means "best face" in Korean.

Career Highlights

Starting Out and Joining T-ara

Before she became a K-pop idol, Qri worked as a model and actress. In 2004, she took part in the "2004 Korea National Ulzzang Contest." This helped her start her modeling career.

She also appeared in some TV shows. In 2007, she was in a music video for Shin Tae-kwon's song "Even If We're Apart."

Qri was originally going to be a bassist in a rock band called Six Colors. However, that plan changed. She then joined Core Contents Media, the company that formed T-ara. Qri was one of the last members to join T-ara in mid-2009, just before their debut.

Acting Success

In September 2009, Qri made her big acting debut in the drama Queen Seondeok. She played the role of Kim Yu-shin's wife. This drama was very popular and won many awards in South Korea.

In 2010, she had a small role in the drama Master of Study. She also got her first main role in a KBS drama special called Southern Trader Kim Chul Soo's Update. In 2011, she joined the cast of the drama The King of Legend.

QBS and Solo Music

In May 2013, Qri, Boram, and Soyeon formed a special group called QBS. This group focused on the Japanese music market. They released their first song, "Like the Wind," in June 2013. The song was very popular in Japan.

In July 2013, Qri became the leader of T-ara. This was part of the group's system where the leader changed over time.

In 2021, Qri released her first solo song called "Suri Suri." She helped write and produce the song herself. "Suri Suri" was a big success, topping music charts in countries like Vietnam and China.

Return to Acting

In August 2024, it was announced that Qri would return to acting after nine years. She made a special appearance in the MBN mini-series Bad Memories Eraser.

Later in September, Qri was cast in a new Korean-Japanese drama series called Nebula. This drama is about the journey and challenges of K-Pop stars. It will be shown on online platforms and TV in Japan and Korea.

Brand Partnerships

Qri has worked with many different brands as a model. Before her debut with T-ara, she modeled for Korean companies like Casamia Furniture. She also worked with international brands such as LG Group and Maybelline New York. In 2021, she became a model for the brand Castellbajac.

Fashion Design

Qri has a strong interest in fashion. In 2018, she launched her first collection of products with a brand called Sebs. This collection, named "Seb.Q," included hats and hoodies. Qri was involved in designing and producing these items. The collection was very successful and sold out quickly.

In the same year, she started her own clothing brand called "Choute.rie." Her designs were sold in South Korea and also shipped to other countries. In 2021, Qri created her own jewelry brand, "Qriel," and modeled the jewelry herself.

Helping Others

Qri also cares about giving back to the community. In September 2014, she and other T-ara members donated 1,500 kilograms of rice to help people in need. She personally delivered the donations.

In 2016, Qri spoke out against animal abuse. She asked for stronger laws to protect animals after a TV show revealed sad conditions at dog breeding farms. In April 2017, Qri took part in a charity campaign called "Donation Applause 337 Relay." The money raised went to help children's charities in South Korea.
