Quechee is a lovely village in Vermont, United States. It's located in Windsor County, within the town of Hartford. It is called a census-designated place, which means it's an area identified by the government for counting people.
Quechee is famous for the beautiful Quechee Gorge, a deep canyon carved by the Ottauquechee River. It is also home to the Quechee Lakes community. This community started in the late 1960s. It includes a small ski area called Quechee Lakes Ski Area.
The village once had a very pretty covered bridge near an old mill. This mill now holds the Simon Pearce glass-blowing studio and a restaurant. In 2011, Hurricane Irene caused floods that badly damaged the bridge. Luckily, the bridge has been rebuilt since then.
Quechee has its own small post office. Its special zip code is 05059.
Long ago, the Abenaki people lived in this area. There is proof that an old Abenaki village was once located where Quechee is today. The Abenaki people also had other settlements and activities throughout the Hartford area.
